“Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies and ICOs: What You Need to Know”
OVERVIEW: Blockchain is the convergence of cryptography and technology that promises to revolutionize how we do business, how we keep records and how we raise capital. The differences between bitcoin and blockchain are discussed. The recent spate of ‘initial coin offerings” is explained in the context of traditional capital raising paradigms. Is a “coin” a “Security” or not, and what are the implications of both determinations.
SPEAKER: Gregory J. Nowak, Partner Pepper Hamilton LLP Gregory J. Nowak is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Pepper Hamilton LLP and a practice leader for hedge funds in the firm’s Funds Services Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in securities law, particularly in representing investment management companies and other clients on matters arising under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the related Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
